In a cozy garden under a big oak tree, lived a little centipede named Cici. Cici had one hundred tiny feet, and each foot needed a shoe. Every morning, Cici would spend hours putting on all her shoes. She had red shoes, blue shoes, shiny silver shoes, and even shoes with little bells that jingled when she walked. But one sunny morning, Cici discovered a big problem. She could only find ninety-nine shoes! One of her favorite sparkly green shoes was missing.
Cici felt very sad. How could she go for her morning walk with one bare foot? She decided to go on an adventure to find her missing shoe. First, she crawled under the big oak tree. She saw Mr. Worm wiggling through the soil. “Hello, Mr. Worm! Have you seen my sparkly green shoe?” asked Cici. Mr. Worm shook his head. “No, little one. But I did see something shiny near the rose bush.” Cici thanked Mr. Worm and hurried towards the roses.
Near the rose bush, Cici met Bella the Butterfly, who was sipping nectar from a pink flower. “Bella, have you seen my green shoe? It’s sparkly and very special,” Cici asked hopefully. Bella fluttered her wings. “I saw something green and shiny reflecting the sun over by the little pond. Maybe it’s there!” Cici felt a spark of hope. She carefully made her way to the pond, her ninety-nine shoes tap-tapping on the stones.
At the pond, Cici saw Freddy the Frog sitting on a lily pad. “Ribbit! Hello, Cici! You look worried,” said Freddy. “I lost my sparkly green shoe. Have you seen it?” Cici asked. Freddy thought for a moment. “I did see something shiny at the bottom of the pond earlier. But it’s too deep for me to reach. Maybe Sammy the Snail can help? He’s very slow but very determined.” Cici thanked Freddy and went to find Sammy.
Sammy the Snail was slowly making his way across a path. “Hello, Sammy. I need help finding my shoe in the pond. Can you help me?” Cici explained. Sammy agreed to help. Together, they went back to the pond. Sammy slowly slid into the water. He searched the muddy bottom with his tentacles. After a few minutes, he emerged, holding the sparkly green shoe! “I found it!” Sammy said happily. Cici was overjoyed. “Thank you, Sammy! You are a wonderful friend!”
With all one hundred shoes finally on, Cici felt complete. She realized that her adventure taught her something important. She had made new friends—Mr. Worm, Bella, Freddy, and Sammy—all because she needed help. That evening, Cici decided to have a little party to thank everyone. She used her jingly shoes to make music, and they all danced under the moonlight. The garden was filled with laughter and joy.
From that day on, Cici never worried about losing a shoe again. She knew that with good friends by her side, any problem could be solved. Every night before she went to sleep, she would count her one hundred shoes, smile, and think of her wonderful adventure and the friends she made. And as she drifted off to sleep, the gentle jingle of her shoes was like a lullaby, reminding her that she was never alone in the big, beautiful garden.
