Once upon a time, on a very hot and sunny day, a little crow named Coco was flying over a dry, dusty land. He was very, very thirsty. He looked all around for water to drink, but everywhere he looked, the ground was cracked and dry. He flew and flew, his wings growing heavy with tiredness.
Suddenly, Coco spotted something shiny on the ground far below. He swooped down to see what it was. It was a tall glass pitcher, but there was very little water at the bottom. Coco tried to put his beak into the pitcher, but it was too narrow and deep. He could not reach the water. The water was too low, and his beak was too short.
Poor Coco felt sad. He was so thirsty and the water was so close, yet so far. He sat on the edge of the pitcher and thought. He remembered his mother telling him, ‘When you have a problem, use your smart brain, not just your wings.’
Coco looked around. He noticed some small pebbles lying on the ground. An idea popped into his head! He picked up a pebble with his beak and dropped it into the pitcher. The water rose just a tiny bit. He picked up another pebble and dropped it in. The water rose a little more. Coco kept picking up pebbles and dropping them into the pitcher, one by one.
He worked hard and did not give up. Slowly, the water rose higher and higher. Finally, the water reached the top of the pitcher. Coco could now drink the water! He drank happily until his thirst was gone. He felt cool and refreshed.
Coco learned that day that when you have a problem, you can solve it with patience and clever thinking. He flew home and shared his story with his friends, and they all praised him for his smart idea. From that day on, whenever Coco faced a challenge, he remembered the pebbles and the pitcher. He knew that with a calm mind and determination, he could overcome anything.
The moral of the story is: Little by little, we can achieve big things. Use your brain, and you will find a way. And that is how the clever crow saved the day.
