Once upon a time, in a wide green savanna, there lived a little antelope named Lila. Lila had the softest brown fur and the biggest, brightest eyes. But Lila was very shy. She was afraid of the tall grass, the roaring lions, and even the buzzing bees. She always stayed close to her mother, never venturing far.

One day, Lila’s mother said, “Lila, my dear, you must go to the River of Dreams to fetch some water. It is a long journey, but I know you can do it.” Lila’s heart pounded. The River of Dreams was far away, and she had never gone alone. But she wanted to be brave.

So Lila set off. She trotted through the grass, her hooves making soft sounds. Soon, she came to a thick patch of grass. It whispered and rustled. “I am scared,” she thought. But she remembered her mother’s words and took a deep breath. She pushed through the grass, and on the other side, she found a beautiful butterfly. “Hello, little antelope,” said the butterfly. “You are very brave to come this far.” Lila smiled.

Next, she saw a big rock blocking her path. She tried to go around it, but there was no other way. She had to climb over it. Lila’s legs were short, but she was determined. She jumped and scrambled, and finally, she climbed to the top. From there, she could see the glimmering River of Dreams. “I can do this!” she said.

As she ran down the hill, she met a group of monkeys playing in a tree. One monkey dropped a coconut near her feet. “Oops! Sorry!” the monkey said. Lila was startled, but then she laughed. “It’s okay,” she said. The monkeys invited her to play, but Lila remembered her quest. “I must get to the river,” she said. “Maybe another time.” The monkeys waved goodbye.

Finally, Lila reached the River of Dreams. The water sparkled like diamonds in the sun. She gently sipped the cool water. It tasted sweet. She filled her little gourd and turned to go home. But then she heard a cry. A little bird was stuck in a thorny bush. “Help!” chirped the bird. Lila was afraid of thorns, but the bird looked so sad. She carefully stepped close, using her nose to push the branches aside. The bird flew free. “Thank you, brave antelope!” said the bird.

Lila felt proud. She was not so scared anymore. She walked back home, telling her mother all about her adventures. Her mother hugged her tightly. “You are the bravest little antelope in all the savanna,” she said. And Lila knew it was true.
