In a warm and sunny meadow, there lived a little cicada named Chirpy. Chirpy had spent many years underground, waiting for the perfect summer to come out and sing. Finally, the day arrived. He crawled out of the soil, climbed up a tall oak tree, and shed his old skin. Now he had beautiful wings and a strong voice.

Chirpy was very excited to sing, but when he tried, only a tiny squeak came out. The other cicadas in the tree were singing loudly and proudly. Chirpy felt sad and shy. “Why is my voice so small?” he thought. “I want to sing like everyone else.”

His friend Bella, a wise old butterfly, landed beside him. “Don’t worry, little one,” she said gently. “Your voice is special. It may be small now, but with practice, it will grow. You just need to believe in yourself.”

Chirpy took a deep breath and tried again. This time, a slightly louder sound came out. He practiced every day, even when the sun was hot and he felt tired. The other cicadas laughed at him, but Chirpy remembered Bella’s words and kept trying.

One evening, a group of children came to the meadow. They were sad because their balloon had flown away. Chirpy saw them and wanted to cheer them up. He sang his little song, and though it was soft, it was sweet and soothing. The children stopped crying and listened. They smiled and clapped their hands.

From that day on, Chirpy sang every evening for the children. His voice grew stronger and more beautiful. The other cicadas stopped laughing and started to admire him. Chirpy realized that his voice was unique and that he didn’t need to be like everyone else.

As the summer went on, Chirpy became known as the cicada with the kindest heart. He learned that being true to yourself and practicing with patience can turn even the smallest voice into something wonderful.

And when the nights grew cooler, Chirpy knew his time was coming to an end. But he was happy because he had shared his song and brought joy to others. He closed his eyes and drifted into a peaceful sleep, dreaming of next summer when he would sing again.
