In the icy land of the Arctic, where snow sparkled like diamonds under the midnight sun, lived a little polar bear named Whitey. Whitey was small and fluffy, with fur as white as the snow. He loved to play with his friends, but he was afraid of the dark and the deep ocean. Every night, his mother would tell him stories about brave bears who explored the vast icy world. Whitey wished he could be brave too.

One day, a big storm came. The wind howled and the snow swirled. When the storm ended, Whitey found himself alone. His family and friends were gone. He called out, but only the wind answered. Whitey felt scared. But then he remembered his mother’s stories. ‘I must be brave,’ he said to himself. He decided to find his family.

Whitey started his journey. He walked across the ice, his paws making soft sounds. Soon, he met a seal named Sammy. ‘Hello, little bear. Where are you going?’ asked Sammy. ‘I’m looking for my family,’ said Whitey. Sammy said, ‘I saw some polar bears heading north. Follow the star that never moves, the North Star, and you will find them.’ Whitey thanked Sammy and continued northward.

As he walked, the ice became thinner. Whitey was scared of falling through. But he remembered his mother’s words: ‘Courage is not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.’ He moved slowly and carefully. Suddenly, he heard a cry. It was a baby seal trapped on a piece of ice that was drifting away. Without thinking, Whitey jumped into the water. He swam to the seal and pushed the ice to shore. The seal’s mother thanked him. ‘You are very brave,’ she said. Whitey felt proud.

Whitey continued his journey. He crossed high snowdrifts and climbed icy hills. He was tired and hungry, but he did not give up. One evening, he saw a big mountain. On the other side, he thought, might be his family. He climbed the mountain. The wind was strong, and the snow was deep. But he kept moving, one step at a time. At the top, he looked down and saw a group of polar bears. It was his family! He slid down the mountain, calling out.

His mother ran to him and hugged him. ‘Whitey, you are so brave!’ she said. ‘You found us!’ Whitey told her about his journey and how he helped the seal. His mother smiled. ‘You have the heart of a true polar bear,’ she said. From that day on, Whitey was no longer afraid of the dark or the deep ocean. He knew that being brave means helping others and never giving up. And every night, he would tell his own stories of adventure and courage to his little friends.
