In a lush green forest, there lived a small wild boar named Benny. Benny was not like the other boars. He was smaller and more timid, always hiding behind his mother when danger approached. The forest was full of wonders and also challenges, and Benny often wished he could be brave like his friends the deer or the squirrel.

One sunny morning, Benny’s mother said, “Benny, today you must find your own food. I will be busy helping the old badger build a new home.” Benny’s heart raced. He had never foraged alone before. But he nodded bravely and set off into the forest.

As he wandered, Benny saw a bush full of ripe berries. Just as he was about to eat, a loud grunt made him jump. It was Edgar, the grumpy old boar. “Those are my berries,” Edgar grunted. Benny lowered his head and walked away, too scared to argue.

Further on, he found a patch of tasty roots. But before he could dig, a rabbit hopped by and said, “Sorry, little boar, but this is the rabbits’ feeding ground.” Benny sighed and moved on. He felt sad and alone.

Soon, Benny heard a cry for help. It came from a small bird whose wing was caught in a thorny bush. The bird was flapping helplessly. Benny wanted to help, but he was afraid of the thorns. He remembered his mother’s words: “Bravery is not about not being scared; it’s about doing the right thing even when you are scared.”

Taking a deep breath, Benny used his snout to gently push aside the thorns. The thorns pricked him, but he kept going until the bird was free. The bird chirped happily and flew away, thanking Benny over and over.

Word of Benny’s good deed spread through the forest. Even Edgar heard about it. That afternoon, a storm hit the forest. The wind howled and rain poured down. Benny found shelter under a large tree. But then he saw that a family of mice was stuck on a log that was about to be swept away by a stream.

Benny knew he had to act. He ran to the stream and used his strong tusks to push the log to the bank. The mice scrambled to safety. Just then, a tree branch cracked and fell, blocking the path to higher ground. Benny led the mice to another route, guiding them through the rain.

When the storm passed, the animals gathered around Benny, cheering. Edgar came forward and said, “You are the bravest boar I know. I was wrong to scare you earlier. The berries are yours.” Benny smiled and said, “There are enough berries for everyone.”

From that day on, Benny was known as the bravest little boar in the forest. He learned that true bravery comes from helping others, and that everyone has courage inside, just waiting to be discovered.
