Once upon a time, in a deep, dark forest, there lived a little wolf named Remy. Remy was not like the other wolves. While his brothers and sisters loved to howl at the moon and chase after rabbits, Remy preferred to sit quietly and watch the stars. He was a dreamer, and his heart was full of wonder.
One night, when the moon was full and the stars were sparkling like diamonds, Remy decided to go on an adventure. He wanted to find the brightest star in the sky and ask it a question. “What makes you shine so bright?” he wondered.
Remy tiptoed out of the den, careful not to wake his family. The forest was peaceful and quiet. The only sound was the soft rustling of leaves in the gentle breeze. Remy looked up and saw the stars twinkling above him. They seemed to be calling his name.
He walked and walked, deeper and deeper into the forest. Soon, he came to a clearing he had never seen before. In the middle of the clearing was a tall, old oak tree. Its branches reached up to the sky, as if trying to touch the stars. Remy sat down under the tree and gazed up at the starry sky.
Suddenly, he heard a soft voice. “Hello, little one. Why are you out so late?” Remy looked around and saw a wise old owl sitting on a branch. The owl’s eyes were big and round, and they sparkled like the stars.
“I’m looking for the brightest star,” Remy said. “I want to ask it a question.”
The owl hooted softly. “The brightest star is not always the one you see with your eyes,” she said. “Sometimes, the brightest star is the one that shines in your heart.”
Remy didn’t understand. “What do you mean?” he asked.
The owl smiled. “Think about what makes you happy. What makes you feel warm and loved? That is your brightest star.”
Remy thought about his family. He thought about his mother’s warm fur and his father’s gentle howl. He thought about his brothers and sisters, who always included him in their games, even though he was different. He thought about the cozy den and the delicious food they shared.
Suddenly, he understood. The brightest star wasn’t in the sky. It was in his heart. It was the love of his family.
“Thank you, wise owl,” Remy said. “I think I know what my brightest star is now.”
The owl nodded. “You are a smart little wolf. Now, go home. Your family is waiting for you.”
Remy thanked the owl and ran back home. As he ran, he felt a warm glow inside his chest. He couldn’t wait to see his family again.
When he reached the den, his mother was waiting for him. “Where have you been, Remy?” she asked, licking his fur. “We were so worried.”
Remy snuggled close to his mother. “I went to find the brightest star,” he said. “And I found it.”
“You did?” his mother asked. “Where is it?”
Remy looked at his family, all gathered around him. “It’s right here,” he said. “It’s all of you.”
His family smiled and licked him and nuzzled him. They all curled up together in a big, warm pile. And as Remy drifted off to sleep, he knew that he had found the most precious treasure of all.
The stars continued to twinkle in the sky, but Remy didn’t need to look at them anymore. He had his own bright star, shining in his heart. And it would never, ever fade.
